ABSTRACT
The anodic behavior of aluminum in ionic liquids was studied by polarization behavior and surface characterization. The anodic polarization in ionic liquids with tetrafluoroborate anion gave the stable aluminum fluoride film with the thickness of 110-170 nm to result in the higher breakdown voltages. The leakage current of the anodic film was lower than that of the oxide film formed in aqueous solution. The aluminum may be used as the current collector for the lithium ion cells and electric double layer capacitors in the ionic liquids with tetrafluoroborate anion.
